16 ½ years old

I stood by your bed, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
It's me I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here.

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you drink your hot tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend to it with so much care.
I want to re-assure you that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you to the place we lived, I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled and said it's me .

You looked so very tired, and sank back into your wheel chair,
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near to you everyday,
To say to you with certainty, I never went away.

You sat there very quietly , then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that night, I was very close to you.

The day is over, I smiled and watched you yawning and say,
Good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning.

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me,
my faithful friend and companion,

This brought tears to my eyes I have a few wonderful dogs on the other side waiting. My favorite was my Buster and he has been gone for 2 years now I will never forget him and I still shed a tear at times when I think of him I loved him so much! I truly can relate to this beautiful poem about your Sadie Mae.

Dear BJ OH! OH! I am still crying This is so touching and beautiful...I like Eva can relate to this one so well....I read it twice...I love dogs and I had two dogs that the kids brought home as puppies and I ended up looking after and keeping them both...They were my two loyal friends,and companions, both are departed now... I am so thankful that God sent them to me as at the time, I was having a lot of problems coping with the death of my husband...I miss them dearly but I know I will see them again someday...Baby was a Rottweiler and Buddy was a German Shepherd/Lab mix...Thank you so much for this beautiful poem...I love it...God Bless you Always, Love, Linda
