Level-Headed Prudence

Feeling prudent could lead you to being level-headed when it comes to financial decisions. You may even lean toward the conservative side of the spectrum of choice. As long as you don’t allow yourself to become overly careful from a sense of fear, there is nothing wrong with taking the time to wisely consider your options and choose the safest of them. This is especially true when you are following the guidance of your intuition, which when combined with your worldly knowledge, is the best information available. It pays great dividend to be level headed when you are balanced between body, mind and spirit.

Financial decisions may encourage us to choose more carefully, but the same laws are at work in every area of our lives. We may feel that our finances have greater weight in the real world, but that is only because we have learned to associate so fully with its symbolism. Love is equally as powerful, though its worldly value may not seem as concrete. All of it is energy that follows the same laws whether in the realm of material reality or in the emotional and spiritual sphere. In recognizing this, we utilize our inner wisdom to make the best and most balanced decisions for ourselves as well as for those we care about. Prudence involves weighing all your choices between your inner and outer worlds and recognizing the value of energy in all of them.

THE POWER OF ATTITUDE MOVIE

I’ve been in business for over 30 years, and I’ve learned that the difference in success or failure is not how you look, not how you dress, not even how you’re educated. It’s how you think! In many ways we’re all alike; however, one little difference always makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude.

In this 3 minute inspirational movie I’d like to share with you some of the keys to staying positive in today’s world. So sit back, turn up your speakers and click on the link below.

Just one more thing….if you like it, don’t forget to share it with friends, family and co-workers. Everyone needs an occasional “shot of inspiration.”

Discover the Power of Discipline

Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is
not an act but a habit.” How true that is! If we make good habits,
they invariably make us.

In the fall of 1996, I received a phone call from an unforgettable
young man. He introduced himself as Matt Ghaffari, and went on to
tell me that a few months earlier he had won the silver medal in
Greco-Roman wrestling during the 1996 Summer Olympics. He said he
wanted to stop by while he was in Chicago, and I said, “No problem.
I’d like to meet you.”

A few hours later my receptionist called saying my guest had
arrived. I walked to the lobby and there he was….6’4” tall and 286
pounds of solid muscle. He had a huge smile on his face as we
walked back to my office.

When we sat down he said, “Mr. Anderson, I’ve come to thank you
because you and your company have made a difference in my life.”
Then he reached into his left pocket and pulled out a green felt
cloth, which he then opened. And there it was, his silver medal. It
was beautiful! Then he reached into his right pocket and emptied
the contents onto my desk. Amid his change was one of the brass
medallions that we had created at Successories® with the words
“Expect To Win”.

He said, “Mr. Anderson, I’ve had that medallion in my pocket every
day for three years. For the past four years I’ve worked ten hours
a day, six days a week to train my body to be an Olympic champion.
But I knew the difference in winning and losing was not going to be
training my body; it was going to be training my mind to think
positive, powerful thoughts…to believe I could do it. And the
products you’ve created at Successories® have helped me to think
like a champion. For the last three years, once a month, I would go
into your store in Cleveland and purchase either a book, a tape, a
poster, or something to reinforce a positive attitude.”

You see, winners like Matt Ghaffari are never complacent. That is
why they’re winners. They understand the power of discipline. They
understand one of my favorite laws in life – you cannot get what
you’ve never had unless you’re willing to do what you’ve never
done.

Are you willing to make the sacrifices required to make your dreams
come true?

To Life,

Guarded And Skeptical

You may be feeling guarded because of a feeling of doubt about the integrity or motives of others. You may find yourself being skeptical about all that is presented to you. When you notice these feelings, you can make the choice to observe all you can in the moment and then take time to go within for further examination. You may find that a gesture has given you the clue, such as someone crossing their arms, or a facial expression gave you reason to wonder. Whatever the reason, even if there were no outward signals, once you’ve examined your feelings in the light of your inner wisdom and higher self, you will be able to act wisely.

We may react to life from many different levels within ourselves. Sometimes it is emotional, sometimes intellectual and sometimes purely spiritual. When we go within to examine our thoughts and feelings before acting, we can respond to life rather than just reacting. We can use the vantage point of the higher self to integrate the information from the various levels of our being and make the best choices. Our higher self can rise above the emotional and mental to observe them with detachment. If you find yourself doubting the motives of others, allow your intuition to guide you on your next best step and trust that the information you receive from within uses all the knowledge available to you from the universe itself.

Finding Your Joy
Be Happy Every Single Day

Our lives are rich with potential sources of happiness, but sometimes we become victims of negative thinking because we believe that focusing on all that has gone wrong will provide us with the motivation we need to face the challenges of survival. When we choose to focus on what makes us happy, however, a shift occurs in the fabric of our existence. Finding something to be happy about every single day can help this shift take place. The vantage points from which we view the world are brought into balance, and we can see that being alive truly is a gift to be savored. There is always something we can be happy about—it is simply up to us to identify it.

On one day, we may find happiness in a momentous, life-changing event such as a marriage or the birth of a child. On another day, the happiness we experience may be a product of our appreciation of a particularly well-brewed cup of a tea or the way the sun shines on a leaf. If we discover that we literally cannot call to mind a single joyful element of existence, we should examine the cause of the blockage standing between us and experiencing happiness. Keeping a happiness journal is a wonderful way to catalog the happiness unfolding all around us so that joy has myriad opportunities to manifest itself in our lives. Writing about the emotions we experience while contemplating joy may give us insight into the factors compelling us to resist it.

Happiness may not always come easily into your life. You have likely been conditioned to believe that the proper response to unmet expectations is one of sadness, anger, guilt, or fear. To make joy a fixture in your existence, you must first accept that it is within your power to choose happiness over unhappiness every single day. Then, each time you discover some new source of happiness, the notion that the world is a happy place will find its way more deeply into your heart. On this day, find one thing to be happy about and let it fill your heart.

What do you think?

Unselfish Generosity

Generosity may overcome you and you could find yourself unselfishly sharing your resources. You may choose to donate your time, talents or financial and material resources to an organization or to help a friend in need. The wonderful thing about such big-hearted gestures is that they don’t diminish you in any way, but instead make you feel more abundant. And because you feel more abundant, you become so. This is partly because abundance is not merely a measure of material wealth, but of the quality of life in terms such as time, joy, and community. By following your instinct to give you also receive.

Because giving and receiving are part of the same energetic cycle, it seems logical that those who want to receive more would give more. But this is spiritual and energetic logic rather than that of the mathematical material world. In that realm, those who feel they need more tend to withhold in order to save, and most people don’t give freely of their resources because they seek a return on their investment. But those who give for the sake of giving often do so for the emotional and spiritual returns it offers rather than material. And often they are not the people who have the most money or time to give, but those who know that sharing what they have does not leave them with less. Today by allowing your sense of generosity to guide your choices, you give yourself the gift of a deeper experience of life’s true wealth.

What do you think?

LISTEN
_________________________

James 1:19-22 (NRSV)

You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to
speak, slow to anger; for your anger does not produce God's righteousness.
Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and
welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls.

But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.

_________________________

KAREN and I have been married for almost 38 years. We know each other so well
that we often anticipate what the other will say and try to finish each other's
sentences. I find joy in this when Karen correctly anticipates what I will say,
but I feel annoyed when she gets it wrong. The annoyance comes not because she
was wrong but because she didn't give me a chance to finish. To be fair, I
admit that I also sometimes mistake what she is going to say. When one of us is
wrong, the word we most often use is listen, as in "listen to me."

I realize that the same dynamic goes on between God and me. Instead of waiting
to hear from God, I sometimes answer what I think God will "say." Often I get
it wrong because I am putting my thoughts before God's thoughts. As James tells
us, it is wise to wait and to listen.

Prayer: Loving God, it is easy for us to assume that our thoughts are your
thoughts. Give us grace to listen to your word in our lives, trusting that you
want what is best for us, as we pray, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed
be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also
forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but
deliver us from evil."* Amen.

STAYING IN THE PATCH
_________________________

Ephesians 5:8-20 (NRSV)

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as
children of light-- for the fruit of the light is found in all that is
good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose
them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly;
but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything
that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,"Sleeper, awake! Rise
from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making
the most of the time, because the days are evil. So do not be foolish,
but understand what the will of the Lord is. Do not get drunk with
wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, as you
sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing
and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the
Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ.

PICKING strawberries was the last thing I felt like doing after a busy
week. But the berries glistened in the sun, and I knew the birds and
bunnies would gladly enjoy the berries if they were left on the vine.
I groaned at the thought of how many there were and how long it would
take. Then I remembered that it had been, after all, my idea to plant
them; and it would be my enjoyment to eat them. I was amazed at how I
could complete one row, bucket filled to the brim, then backtrack to
find one berry here that I missed, two under there, one more over
here. And all the while I thought I was finished!

How like our Christian walk is that berry patch! When we think we
have reached a certain level of goodness (our measure, not God's) and
begin to glory in it, God seems to tap us on the shoulder and say,
"But what about this? And this?"

Walking daily with our Creator involves constant changing, learning,
and growing - gradually becoming more like the Christ we live to
serve. And God works alongside us and within us, helping us to bear
fruit.

Prayer: O God, help us to recognize the people and situations around
us that need our attention and move us to action. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God is glorified when we bear the fruit of love.

Commanding Ambition

You may be feeling forceful as you take the bull by the horns and push toward your ambitions. In fact, you may feel that you are commanding the universe to create your visions. When we are filled with the energy to pursue our dreams so relentlessly, we may feel that universe is responding by giving us what is needed to create them in the world. We may find several doors closing as we seek the right partners to help us make our goals reality, but we must remember that the universe has infinite channels through which to work. We may need the experience of rejection in order to appreciate the redirection we receive from those encounters. You can use your ambitious energy to command your dreams into being.

Sometimes we may feel that we are forcing a square peg into a round hole, but it takes great energy to create something from nothing. A big bang created the universe, so it may require no less to create something new in our own world. We may only find the force we need by encountering opposition to fight against—a larger version of what occurs within an oyster that creates a pearl. We can look to nature to see the results of stars colliding or to man-made marvels when rivers are rerouted to create electricity. By following your intuition to command your creative energy, you bring your vision into manifestation.

What do you think?
