CHRISTMAS
(the reason for the season
A blanket of new fallen snow
Paint the fields a glistening white
Reflected by the moon, purity
On a cold clear Christmas Eve night
Kinfolks are here visiting
To help us celebrate
This year’s Christmas holiday
Everything will be so great
Stockings hanging by the fireplace
Children wide eyed in awe
So excited they can’t sleep
And there’s talk of Santa Claus
The smell of food is prevalent
Ham and turkey being baked
Potatoes, corn and cranberry sauce
Man, I can hardly wait
Yet, something is missing
Something is not quite right
Someone was not invited
Someone is not here tonight
Pondering these thoughts in my mind
I realized the worst
We failed to invite Jesus
As we celebrate his birth
We pray to you our precious Lord
And asked to be forgiven
And never-ever let us forget
The real reason for the season
Be with us each and very day
Guide our thoughts and mind
And always Jesus, be our guest
Especially at Christmas time
