HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS !!

I put my paw on Mama’s arm,
Had to get her attention.
Was something I just had to do,
A thing I had to mention.

“Mama”, I said, “I have a gift,
To give to Jesus, too.
I want to thank him very much,
For bringing me to you.”


Mama stroked me, said, “Why sure”,
Asked me what it was.
I told her and she stroked my fur,
Then called me “Patches Clause” !

She said, “Go get it, little one !”
And off I went a-runnin’.
She knew I was real serious,
And didn’t make no funnin’.


I came back breathless and sat down,
The gift held in my teeth.
My Mama smiled while lookin’ down,
Said, “That is just so sweet !”

“Of course I’ll help you, Baby,
You are so very kind !
Just let me take your picture,
With the treat you went to find !”

“So here’s my gift, Dear Jesus,
I thank you very much.
For saving me, and for my Mama,
Who loves me with every touch.”

“I hope you like your present,
I found it on the Christmas tree.
It’s for your birthday, special sent,
This gift for you from me.”

Dear Patches and Mama Linner: The words penned in "Happy Birthday Jesus" are just as precious as the two of you. And the gift of another star reminds us to remember that first star that shined over the manger when Baby Jesus was born and how each of us is to let that "little light within us" shine for Jesus as well. Loved the picture that your Mama Linner took of you, Patches. You were so good to sit so still for her. May you both be blessed in all you do........KayD

That picture is precious beyond belief and her poem is so sweet. I am sitting here crying like a baby. What an incredible thing to share with us all. She looks so much like Su-Shee and holding that little star in her mouth, what a doll baby! I have got to run a copy of that page and keep this forever. You truly ARE such a wonderful mommy and God truly blessed you both by bringing you together.

This is one of the sweetest things I have seen this holiday season. God bless you both and I KNOW Jesus loves His gift.

Linner, this is just too precious for words! Patches is a doggie after God's own heart, and I'd love to hug her neck. She is such a beautiful dog, and her mommie has a heart of gold too! Jesus always knows what he is doing, and you and patches are a shining example of that!

Hi Kay !! I'm writing for Patches...she says that I take pictures of her all the time and has become bored with it...lol !! I say...she is so photogenic, and when I got this shot, all kinds of possibilities opened up. I call it her 'praying picture'. I keep a blank copy to use for several different occasions. Thank you for commenting here...we both love you !!

Uh oh....your waterworks are at it again !! Bless you for feeling this picture and poem, Karen. Yes, she does have a similar look to Su-Shee, doesn't she !! Here's a secret...she didn't really have that star in her mouth....Mama drew the green string and painted the star !! Oh, but I couldn't resist. You, out of a few, know how much stress and heartache I went through before Patches was given to me to stay for good. Unfortunate, sad circumstances brought it about, but God's ways are wonderful! Thank you so much for reading and enjoying my baby and her poem for Jesus !!

Pokers, you'd have trouble just hugging her neck !! If she saw you and Jeffie, she would be all over you and wiggling her whole body like it would fall apart !! Aw Eva....I knew you'd like this one !!! We are all dog lovers and truly love and appreciate having them in our lives. Patches' heart is so big in that tiny body, that I think she could love the whole world without ever getting tired !! She's a real Angel, and we have a good life together now.
