The Sheriff

The Sheriff

Out of his office he walked
When he heard someone call his name
It looked like another kid
Looking to kill just for fame

They stood there in the street
Standing just twenty paces a part
Whisper could be heard everywhere
As the women crossed their hearts

It seamed like hours ticking by
Before one would make his play
Though it was only seconds
When it was over, they both may lay

Then with a sudden flash
Guns left holsters with a boom
Both men fell to the ground
The town was covered with a gloom

As the crowd rushed out to the street
They found the stranger already dead
As they rolled the Sheriff over
He groaned, the bullet scraped his head

They were both carried to the doc's office
Where he wrapped the Sheriff's head
After taking care of his old friend
Then he went to prepare the stranger so dead

Some say the stranger was a drifter
Others say he was a gun on the run
But he was only a kid barely eighteen
Either way he lived and died by the gun

It took the Sheriff a couple of days
Before his wits was finally back
Some say it was pure luck, others say fait
But, the amount of stories sure had no lack

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL
