Two Women

Post by Happy Holmes1 » Mon Aug 20, 2012 1:52 pm

Two Women
One woman wanted pretty lips, so she painted hers hot pink.
Another wanted pretty lips, so she watched over the words she would speak.
One woman wanted her head adorned, so she bought lots of hats;
While the other woman loved the Lord, and He crowned her, just for that.
One woman wore gold, and sparkled jewels, with pearls & beads.
Another woman waited for the pearled gates and golden streets.

One woman never had a kind word to say. The other woman wanted to be treated kind, so lived her life that way.
The first woman was negative and was so self-absorbed;
While the other woman reached out to all, fearing someone would be ignored.

One woman desired to be pretty; but sadly, she never was;
She found the reason coined in the phrase, “Pretty is, is pretty does.”
The other woman was quite beautiful: wearing clothes anyone could afford:
Her beauty came from her obvious love for others and for the Lord.

GOD’s grace in Dawn Gwin 08-20-12 5:00 a.m.
This poem came to me this morning after spending about 4 hrs. at the “Grace Temple Covenant Church” in Garland, Tx. Yesterday, from 4:00pm on. The room was full and I couldn’t help but notice the many types of women there: there were women studded in costly apparel from their big outlandish hat, to their jeweled high heels; then you had some in jeans. There was one in particular who stood out to me: she was dressed casual, with a bright lime green polo, and printed slacks to go with it; her hair was nicely combed back in a plain ponytail; she had no make-up on, and didn’t notice her shoes. What I did notice that stood out, was, her obvious love for people and the Lord. When the Pastor said to hug two people, this woman came a far distance to hug my neck and was sincere about her kind welcome. Later, she led some praise and worship songs, with a powerful voice; but most importantly, it was TO the Lord, you could tell, b/c she wasn’t looking at the audience, neither was she making a big show. This intrigued me, and got my attention. I had to ask myself: what kind of woman am I? Do I stand out like a light on a hill in the darkness? Or, do I fit in with the rest of the world? Worst than that, do I fit in with the religious crowd?
GOD forbid ladies, that we would “fit in” with the world, or religious folks. Instead, may we stand up for love, and stand out with a meek and quiet spirit who focuses on being a blessing, not being there to be blessed.

Amen
