When I was just a little girl,
I loved my daddy so.
I’d tag along beside him
Where ever he’d let me go
I thought he was the greatest…..
Grandest man in all the land;
And felt so safe and happy,
When my daddy held my hand.
He made me feel so loved and special,
Though I never knew just why;
But Mama always told me,
I was the “apple of his eye.”
When all grown up I realized
Dad was growing older, too;
No longer fixing my problems;
Telling me where to go and what to do.
Sometimes when he held me close,
I thought he was going to cry,
As he whispered, “I’ll always love you,
You’re the apple of my eye.”
Daddy’s love meant so much to me
Memories will always bless my heart
He was a wonderful Christian example to all;
The truth from God’s Word he loved to impart.
He had always read the Bible
And shared the things of God with me;
Taught me God was my Heavenly Father
Who loved me so much more than he.
As a child, I thought that wasn’t true.
No love could ever be that great,
But reading the Bible as Dad had done,
I quickly found I could hardly wait.
To find out more about this love,
That for me would never fail
A perfect love that is eternal
And forever will prevail.
I am amazed! This love is mine!
Undeserved and free for me to claim.
At the foot of the cross, I accepted the gift
And my life has never been the same.
To God, my Father, I’m loved and special
And I do not question why,
Jesus’ blood made me acceptable to God.
And I am the “Apple Of His Eye”
No greater love can we ever know
Than that of our blessed Father above;
And we can all thank Him and praise His dear name,
By sharing with others His Word and His love.
