"God's Promise"
The dark storm was raging
While winds were blowing high
Lightning was brightly flashing
Across the dark angry sky
Trees were creaking and bending
Bowing way down low . . .
As I was caught in this storm
With no place to go
The booming sound of thunder
With the great flashes of light
Caused me to wonder . . .
If my heart would fail from fright
Near a bush I hid, waiting as I prayed
Asking God to calm my fear . . .
I called to him, above the sounds
I had faith that my "Lord" did hear
Slowly, gently the rains settled down
Lightning and thunder passed away
Leaving my shield, and the cold wet ground
I stepped out again . . . Into the day
I saw the bright sun begin to peek
From under a silver trimmed cloud
The birds started rustling their feathers
With chirping and singing aloud
In appreciation, I looked toward Heaven
Works of God, are a wonder, I know
Then, spanned like a bridge across the skies
Was His promise . . . A Beautiful Rainbow!
