~*~ I Wonder ~*~

Postby Pokey's Heart » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:39 pm

He was just a tiny baby,
Who was sleeping in the hay.
Given by his Father,
To us on Christmas day.

Mary, you were chosen,
For his mother here to be,
As you gently watched over him,
This gift to you and me.

The wonder of that moment,
When you looked into his face,
Saw the actual features,
And his little hands embraced.

Your heart must have had
Joy beyond compare,
As you picked up tiny Jesus,
And into his eyes you stared.

I wonder what you saw there,
In this little baby’s eyes…
I wonder how he toddled,
I wonder if he cried.

I wonder if the animals
Knew he was a King,
I wonder of his favorite food,
And if He liked to sing.

I know you counted fingers,
And probably some toes,
I wonder to what extent you knew,
The gift on us bestowed…

I wonder how you marveled
Of this miracle of birth,
Of the tiny little Savior...
God come down to earth.

I wonder why He loves me,
I wonder why indeed.
This little tiny baby...
In lives would fill such need.

I thank you, precious Jesus,
For the gift from you to me.
I thank you, Loving Father,
For Salvation, full and free.

Pokey: This write speaks so to my own heart about my wonderings also about how Mary felt about her baby boy. Yet, somehow, I feel she knew He was not a forever child for it was in His Manhood that He gave His all for each of us.....I wonder if her heart grieved as a mother.....and I often wonder if I am truly worthy of His Love and Grace.....wonderings.....will we ever know?.........KayD

I know Kay, so many things to ponder...I often think that God has never asked us to go through anything, he himself has not endured, giving up his only son, and seeing the loving creation he made turn from him into sin. He loves us so much to have gone ahead and provided a way for us to be with Him eternally. I cannot comprehend such profound unselfish love, but I know someday, it will no longer matter, for we will then be immortal, with Him forever.
I love you always,
Pokey

O Pokey, this is from "Jesus and Pokey," this is for SURE!!
There are some really tender moments in this poem. I will want to read this again and again. I can tell you have put a lot of thought from your Mother heart into this one. I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surely this will be in a video, and on some Christmas cards by next year. Can't imagine it not being. If I getta vote, hands and feet are both up, as I am sure everyone who reads this will agree.

I realize more and more, as I hear your heart, what a deeply compassionate, and tenderly loving woman of GOD you are Pokey. I am honored to know you!! Jeff's words made me cry, b/c can't you just hear a darling little boy, caring about GOD that way. What a loving heart Jeff had even as a small boy, huh?!

Hugs & Kisses from this Mr. & Mrs. to you both, & MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

God bless you, Jeff, and God bless you, Dawn, you are an amazing friend and gift from God. Yes, Dawn, I can surely imagine Jeff as a little boy, and it bothering his precious heart so much because he thought God had no one to make him breakfast and take care of him when He took such good care of all of us. The very heart of who God is seems to be in the innocence of little children. We have so much to learn from them. I love you so much for your sweet comments. I know any mother on earth would wonder about the things we do...
love you always, and have a blessed Merry CHRISTmas!
forever,

Dearest Pokey

I don't know how I overlooked this, but I did. I have wondered, too, about some of the things you mentioned. I wonder if He was like we were as babies. I wonder if there was any mischief in Him. Somehow I don't see how He could have ever made even one mistake. And Mary too, was under a lot of pressure, after all this was the Son of God. She had the job of being the ultimate mother so that we would all know how a mother should act.

I admire her so much. How brave she was, although so young. She just had to stand back and let her baby boy be taunted, beaten and His life taken without a word of anger or a loss of control of her temper. She, too, had to be careful not to betray the trust that God put in her to raise His Son. You have captured it all in your beautiful poem. I have wondered many times, but your words say it all in such a touching way. No one could have said it more beautifully.

How blessed we are that this birth, death and resurrection was all done for mankind. Such filthy rags we are, but loved enough by the God of the Universe, to be covered and purified in the blood of His Righteous Son. You have written such a beautiful tribute to the true meaning of Christmas and the sacrifice that set us all free.

God bless you..........I love you,
Buttercup

Neat, Brenda, I'm so glad it turned out good. I hope you continue to feel OK..that blood pressure is nothing to mess around with. I am on medication for high blood pressure too. I love the home made bread, and like you said, it goes straight to my body these days it seems. I hope to start walking more when the weather permits.
God bless you and have a wonderful day,
Love,
Pokey
