The Carpenters' tools held a conference and brother HAMMER was in the chair.
The meeting had informed him that he must leave because he was too noisy.
"If I am to leave this Carpenters' shop, then brother Gimlet must go too, he is so insignificant that he makes little impression". Little brother Gimlet arose and said" But brother Screw must go also-you have to turn him around and around again and again to get him anywhere'. Brother SCREW then said "If you wish I will go, but brother PLANE must go also, all his work is on the surface-there is no depth to it". To this brother PLANE replied "Well brother RULE will have to withdraw as well, for he is always measuring other folk as though he is the only one who is right". "Then brother RULE complained against brother SANDPAPER,
" I just don't care-he is rougher than he aught to be and he rubs people up the wrong way".
In the midst of this discussion the CARPENTER OF NAZARETH walked in. He had come to perform His days' work. He put on His apron and went to the bench to make a pulpit.
He employed the HAMMER, GIMLET,SCREW,PLANE,RULE and SANDPAPER and ALL the other tools.
After the days' work was over and the pulpit was finished Brother SAW rose and said "Brethren, I perceive that all of us are laborers together for GOD."
Oh how many of us Christians are just like those tools, fussing about others because they don't do things just the way we think they should.!There was not an accusation against any one of those tools that was not absolutely true and yet the Carpenter used every one of them and there was not a place where He used any one where any other would have done at all.
How careful we should be to guard against finding fault with any of Gods' tools.
