THOUGHTS ON A WALK

Thoughts on a Walk

As I walked through the woods one day,
There were so many things to see.
My eyes lit up at the display,
And touched the very soul of me.

I watched the ground where I did tread,
Amazed to see the beauty there.
Guilt struck me, what had I trod dead,
By walking, just to get somewhere ?

I wished that I had wings to fly,
Above them as I gazed on down.
At lovely violets, blue as sky,
Living life there on the ground.

I prayed for their forgiveness then,
For as a human, ‘tis walk I do.
I wonder if Jesus, way back when,
E'er cried, to crush a violet blue.

A question I shall ask of Him,
When time comes and we both shall talk.
Yet now, the answer remains dim,
And to go forward, I must walk.

I send a sad thought to the ground,
I’m sorry this I do to you…
My eyes look at the violet found,
Step over, bidding it adieu.

Though still I wonder, yet I have found,
Most things grow tougher as time goes on.
For plants, roots strengthen in the ground,
Their hardships, too, will make them strong.

Like human souls, they protect theirs,
Inside themselves, all safe and sound.
In spring, they’ll bloom again with flowers,
All in life’s cycle, going ‘round and ‘round !

Dear Linner: How I so wish I could walk with you where flowers bloom and things are green. Here we have the desert brown, plant growth is harsh to touch, and we have the desert critters, some of which can prove to be a real hazard to a walk. Your poetic write is a delightful read.....and the picture absolutely breath-taking......KayD

Thanks so much, Kay !! I wish you could walk with me, too !! I didn't take this picture, but on a day when Brenda, Phillip and I went for a drive to Mammoth Cave park, I was lucky to find some wild violets, and I did almost step on them. I was thinking of them when I sat here at the computer, and started to write, using the thoughts from my day there at the park. It was a beautiful and fun day, it was !!

You know, I think of you as living in the desert where so many travelers followed the leadings of Jesus Christ, to find the Promised Land. Could you possibly put yourself in their 'shoes', and walk with them ?? Yes, the desert is a barren land most of the time, but so many people in the past, and even now, make it their home, and are so proud of it !! I know, from reading and from pictures, that the desert has its colossal growth time, in which it delights like no other place in the world !!

I love you ... Linner :D

Here it is, 5 a.m., and I find such a lovely comment from my sis, Pastor Shirley Ann Shaw, of Raytown, Missouri !! Thank you so much, my girl !! I always talk to the plants...sometimes out loud, but mostly in my mind. I appreciate and love what God hath created, and for Him I try to help them as best I can. To grow from His seeds is a real treat...a miracle, really !! I love you, too, sweet thayng !!

Love always and forever, Linners  :D

Such a beautiful poem sweetie! It's funny, I've never thought about where I tread and upon what! You've brought an awareness to me! Now I will look at each step I take! Careful not to crush anything and try to side step things in my way! So you guys went to Mammoth Cave huh! I loved it over there! We went through all the caves and it totally boggles the mind things the Lord can create out of stone! :-) Loved the pic you took of the flowers! :-) Hugs ~ Chee :-)

Linner: As I was driving on the road below, I looked up and this time of year with the desert brown, I can see our home up on the plateau.....want to take my camera and get a picture of it....I was out walking around the front part of the mobile home and at the base of the brown grass there are now bits of green. But to look at some of the trees the green leaves (these are tiny mesquite leaves) did not change to a brown and have hung onto the branches although they are dried. Hopefully as the green comes back and the desert wildflowers bloom, I can remember to take pictures for the memory book. Liked your perception in these words:

And having lived in the desert southwest for many years of my life, I do so enjoy its majesty.....Thanks for all your good words....my dearest friend.......KayD

Hey there, Chee !!! Now, I didn't take that picture, honey gal. Said so up above. I do have a few pics of the ones that I did see in the park, but they're on a cd and chose to use one from the internet. I haven't seen the caves, we were on a nature ride and went through the park only. Saw the Green River, too ! I'm pleased that I was able to bring awareness to you of the beauty to be found almost  under our feet !! Do you take pictures ? I like to sit on the ground and get shots of tiny flowers and different plants, angle shots of things up higher, etc. Photography is a real trip !! Thanks, girl, for coming to read my poem...know you are loved and may God always bless you and your loved ones.

Loving you...Linner :D

Wonderfully written Linner, I have found since growing older to appreciate so many things God has given! I always try to even rescue a moth or 2 trapped inside during the warmer months and set back free, life slowly changes us it seems! Love the poem, God Bless You & all the little flowers!

My bad! I misread what you wrote about taking a picture of the flower! :-) I think I need new glasses! Hee-hee! No sweetie, I don't take pictures! Dale does from time to time. I have boxes of photographs and wonder what will happen to them once I'm gone. I took the time to write on the back of each one the year and who's in it in case some member of my family is going through them after I pass away and say, "Who the heck is that?" :-) Now they'll know! :-) Anyway, I loved your poem! You keep taking pics sweetie and be sure to share them with the rest of us! :-) Hugs ~ Chee :-)

Thanks, Jeffie !! Yes, I think you're right...as we get older, we look at things differently. Maybe our own fragility makes us aware of that of other living things. I feel closer to God, somehow, the older I get. Good place to be, that's for sure.

God bless you, too ...with love, Linner :D
