Barely Persuaded
Up until the very day before his passing, he remained in the valley of decision;
It was then, I all but pulled him from his hospital bed: for the state of his soul and dereliction.
I met him on that day before his passing; and could tell he was perplexed right away:
The family was not open to a Chaplain, so I said I would return "another day."
But, all that day I cried to the Lord, and, I ask Him, "When can I go back?"
I pleaded all day for the soul of the dying man, "And Lord, give me boldness where I lack."
At 8:00 p.m. an urgent feeling rushed through me, I knew I had to run.
When he saw me, a frightened look came over him: he said, "You don't know all the things I have done!"
I told him, we're all guilty and need a Savior: Someone to take our punishment we deserve.
I explained the best I could about what Jesus did; then I begged the man, "Receive Him, Sir!"
He rubbed his head with the little strength he had, as he managed to say, "I don't know how; I need to think."
It was then, I cried and told him, "There is so little time... you are about to stand in front of your Maker, the King!"
"I have been TOO BAD, TOO BAD, TOO BAD!!" the man kept saying to me.
All I could say is, "All of us have: and that's why we need Him desperately!"
Then, with all that was in me,I begged him, praying within:
"Lord, You alone know the words that will affect him."
I told him, All you have to do right now, is to agree with GOD:
Tell Him, "I know I am a sinner: please wash me in the Blood.
Prepare me to be in Your Presence." The man cried, "I don't know how!"
I prayed, "Lord, how do I do this? He needs You right now!!"
I wanted to respect him in his weakened state:
But, also, I had to do all I could before it was too late...
I cried and gave it my best shot, as I expressed the urgency:
"Look Sir!" I said to him,"and listen closely to me."
You are about to see the Lord, and I am not far behind.
Promise me when I get to Heaven, and search for you, I will find.
Please don't reject the Lord again, like you have all those times before:
Time is almost up for you, and Jesus is knocking on your heart's door.
The man closed his eyes and said "Okay." He said it in a gentle tone:
Then frowned a few times, and rubbed his head: suddenly, on his face, a light shone.
It wasn't a bright, obvious light; but, it was enough for me to know,
When he passed on the next day, I would see him when I get Home.
Please don't reject GOD's leading in your life. I have seen far too many who were unable to receive Jesus on their death bed, due to many reasons. I see teenagers all the way to a woman who rejected GOD last month at age 102. I will not go into details, but her death was so horrific, I will never forget it.
