I heard a soft voice whispering my name,
I looked around to see where from it came!
But no one was in my sight that I could see
Was this voice really calling out to me?
So I kept on walking till I reached the place
Where peace and quiet, I could fully embrace!
The waves rolled in, the waves rolled out
Then I heard my name again, without any doubt!
This time it was definitely my name that I heard
So I sat quiet to see if I could hear any words
Sounds of laughter was coming from the sea
Was it the waves, really laughing at me?
Then I heard a voice call out my name again
I knew from the tone of it, it understood my pain!
I heard Him say to the waves, be gone all of you
And with those words, the laughter withdrew!
I sat there helpless, not knowing what to do
Then he stood in front of me, in full view!
I tried to get your attention earlier, he said
But you did not stop, you went full stream ahead!
Why is it, when I speak, you do not listen to me
But you listened to the waves, calling you from the sea!
I speak to you all the time, my voice is here
But you do not pay attention, do you not hear?
I looked up, I could see the sadness in His face
I felt so ashamed, my heart was full of disgrace!
Lord I am so sorry for not listening to you
Can you forgive me and let me start anew?
Then He placed His Loving arms around me
My Child he said, I have already forgiven thee!
From now on, listen to the voice from deep within
For it is mine talking to you, he said with a grin!
