Life Investment

A sample of Daily Encounter by Dick Innes

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the
race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for
me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous Judge, will award to me on that day [in
Heaven] --and not only to me, but also to all who have
longed for his appearing."1

Roger Perkins of Higher Ground writes: "A few years ago
I sat and listened to an eighty-year old man who had
retired as pastor of a church in New Jersey after
serving there for forty years--his only parish. Ten
years before, at age seventy, he and his wife moved to
Africa to spend their final years in Kingdom work--much
of it in prisons.

"He said to our small gathering, 'I don't want to be
too harsh, but what are you doing that would cause God
to want to extend your life?'

"I was stunned. My old analytical self tried to counter
his reasoning, but the Spirit clearly gave me a wakeup
call to make every day count by remaining close to God
and living out his will. Life is short, no matter how
long it is.

"The above pastor's name is Grover Wilcox. He started a
church in the inner city of Newark after graduating
from Wheaton College and was a pastor there for forty
years. He knows about faithfulness. He has experienced
planting, sowing and reaping. He's still going strong
in East Africa--he's about 85 now. And by the way, his
denomination wouldn't ordain him when he got out of
Wheaton College because they thought he wasn't good
material or ready for the pastorate."2

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, help me to carefully
examine my life to see if there is any reason why you
would choose to extend my life. Thank you for hearing
and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name,
amen."

1. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV).

Brenda,
This is so GOOD! and makes you really stop and take a look at your life as you answer that question. What am I doing? and I Pray that I am doing something in some way to share Gods love with others not because I want more from Him, but because I love Him so much and I want to give Him all I have!
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful message we all need to hear it I know I did.

God Bless You Love Eva

I aree with Eva. We all need to search our hearts daily,
and question ourselves about what we are doing to further God's
kingdom! Thank you for sharing with us, dear friend, Brenda.

Dear Brenda.,
I also agree with all that read this wonderful write you shared my dear friend.
We all do need to search our hearts each and everyday of our life.
I need Him and want Him in my life daily and to share God's love with everyone I love why? Because He was there for me through heartache ,trials, loss of life, and I could go on and on.
Yes indeed we all do need to search our hearts, and know He is with us each and everyday.
Brenda, Such a blessing this write you shared with me dear friend.
GLYASDI

There are many truths revealed in this Brenda, many of them of much wisdom. The first I believe is a take on one of St. Paul's letters, about running and winning the good race. And the race seems to be going faster and faster, perhaps faster than I can keep up with it. Love the one about the old 85 year old man as well. In the Catholic Church, priests are moved from one parish to another, or rather use to be, about every 4 or 5 years. The Pastor at our Church has been here for 26 years, and is going to retire this summer, as is our Principal. You probably know who she is. Great reflections you have shared. Thank you Brenda. GLYASDI
Live today as if it were your last, for tomorrow it will be your past, but live it with peace in mind, joy to find, and for God divine!

DEAR JAN, THANKS FOR THE COMMENT DEAR FRIEND. YES, WE WOULD NEED TO START IN D.C. THOUGH. SPREAD SOME CHRISTANITY AROUND ON THE LAWN OF THE WHITE HOUSE. PRAY FOR EACH ONE OF THEM AS THEY PASS BY. EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT THIRTY DAY OR MAYBE FORTY AS IT RAINED FOR FORTY DAYS IN NOAH'S DAY. WE SHOULD RAIN DOWN ON D.C. IN THE SAME MANNER. LOVE BRENDA
