The Wealth of Friendship

Postby wordworx on Wed Aug 29, 2007 10:41 pm

When I am deeply pondering,
I often recollect
the many treasures I have found
in Friendship and Respect.
So many times from past mistakes,
I've learned how not to be.
I heeded words of wise advice
from those who helped me see
that Life is short, and all that counts
are Friends that we have made;
for Kindliness leaves memories
which Time can never fade.

For if we wait for "better days"
to act on good intention,
the Future soon will pass us by
without the slightest mention.
The Past is gone, the Future hid . . .
so while we live and strive,
If any person we can aid,
our memory will thrive.
I've found through long experience
that helping in this way,
will make this world a better place---
and others' woes allay.

If I pass on to those I meet
this wisdom I've been taught,
I know they'll have the best in Life
of that which can't be bought.

How so very true the words penned in this poem. Yes we must never let the future go pass us without any contributions to society and God from us. Your poem is very inspiring and makes the mind ponder on the future steps that we need to take. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and those you love.

Nice to meet you too, Songbird1. I'm glad you enjoyed this. I probably won't be here on a regular basis, due to the nature of working two jobs as I do, but I'll pass on any cogent verse which I come up with, at some point.

I appreciate the thoughts, Norman. I'm not sure how to go about making a picture poem here, as the rest of you do. But speaking of pictures, I've got some pretty nifty ones to share now.

Not long after I installed this new computer, Hewlett-Packard sent me a fantastic editing program, with which I've been restoring a batch of old film photos from my archives. Most of them look better than new! You'll get a kick out of some of them, I'm sure.

Many thanks once more, Beverly!

I tried to use the e-card tools provided by Skip, but apparently I'm missing some crucial step or other. I'll work it out with time, for I've some fantastic photos I've taken over the years, which I'd like to use; even though I say it as shouldn't perhaps. I'll work it out eventually.

My thanks once again for reading my simple works!

Dear Roy,

Your poem made me remember the one I wrote sometime back for our NetHugs friends entitled "Memories of Friends". Your poem tells of friendship in such a beautiful way. I really do enjoy your poems. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and those you love.
