Love… in Sickness & in Health

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the attractive young woman with the white cane made her way carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, walked down the aisle and found the seat he’d told her was empty. Then she settled in, placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg. It had been a year since Susan, 34, became blind. Due to a medical misdiagnosis she had been rendered sightless, and she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity. And all she had to cling to was her husband, Mark.

Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and was determined to help his wife gain the strength and confidence she needed to become independent again.

Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to drive her to work each day, even though they worked at opposite ends of the city. At first, this comforted Susan, and fulfilled Mark’s need to protect his sightless wife who was so insecure about performing the slightest task. Soon, however, Mark realized the arrangement wasn’t working. Susan is going to have to start taking the bus again, he admitted to himself. But she was still so fragile, so angry how would she react?

Just as he predicted, Susan was horrified at the idea of taking the bus again. “I’m blind!” she responded bitterly. “How am I supposed to know where I am going? I feel like you’re abandoning me.”

Mark’s heart broke to hear these words, but he knew what had to be done. He promised Susan that each morning and evening he would ride the bus with her, for as long as it took, until she got the hang of it.

And that is exactly what happened. For two solid weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day. He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.

Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own. Monday morning arrived, and before she left, she threw her arms around Mark, her temporary bus-riding companion, her husband, and her best friend. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, and his love. She said good-bye, and for the first time, they went their separate ways.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday… Each day on her own went perfectly, and Susan had never felt better. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself.

On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was paying the fare to exit the bus, the driver said, “Boy, I sure do envy you. “

Susan wasn’t sure if the driver was speaking to her or not. After all, who on earth would ever envy a blind woman who had struggled just to find the courage to live for the past year? Curious, she asked the driver, “Why do you say that you envy me?”

The driver responded, “It must feel good to be taken care of and protected like you are.”

Susan had no idea what the driver was talking about, and again asked, “What do you mean?”

The driver answered, “You know, every morning for the past week, a fine-looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you as you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches until you enter your office building.

Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a little salute and walks away. You are one lucky lady.”

This is just one of the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE STORIES put into action. It touches my heart. I can’t help but cry not because of pity but because of love, devotion and commitment of those involved. It is a fulfillment of the promise made …for BETTER OR FOR WORST, till death do us part. God bless your marriage.
Let us allow God to work out His best interest in our marriages. He will if we allow HIM. God bless!

My Sweetie Baby, ” BARRY , Your Love, is the BEST thing that ever happen to me. I just left you 9 weeks ago, and I’m looking forward to seeing you again in few months time. My Love for you is an” ULTIMATE SACRFICE”, I travelled half way around the world just to be with you. True Love is very hard to find, it’s ” EASY SAID THAN DONE”, specially here online. But to prove a “STRONG LOVE “is very hard to achieve, there must be Strong courage and determinations. Our Love is strengthened with constant phone calls , morning and afternoon, and chatting here online as well. it keeps us closer to each other. But above all, our Desires to be with each other wasn’t only a dream, but I made it into Reality, the BEST I could, by seeing you as much as possible. I promise to be there with You ” NO MATTER WHAT”.I LOVE YOU very much, my dear, missing you as ever. hugs and kisses…..J..ROOpach…AUS.

True love is the most beautiful gift that someone can give to another. This is such a touching story of what true love should be. To be there in sickness and health and to love unconditionally with a love that never fades but grows stronger with time. I do hope to find that kind of love one day … to all those in love … treasure what you have because tomorrow is never a promise but today is a gift. Love joins two hearts from great distance because God and destiny desire them to be one so hang on that special bond that has been made!

Really, this story made me cried a river…it was so touching. Days ago, i felt so helpless, too desperate because I thought that the only man I loved didn’t love and care for me anymore, I felt like dying, i cant imagine myself living without him by my side, but when I read this, a new hope arises inside of me, I realized I must continue to live to love him, trust him and believe what he was always telling me, forever we’ll stay loving each other, no matter what happens………

For all who have this kind of love you are not lucky, but you are blessed! For when I became sick and bed ridden my husband who was or so he says was a christian as I. He stayed with me for 3 yrs, after I became ill, and I started getting better and was able to get up and about more, but he told me one day “that that he loved me, and you are a wonderful wife and a great mother, but I need someone who could do the things we used to do.” Well, that’s not what I would call love. In one day 15 yrs were gone. So, remember to be good to each other, and love each other, and let your love grow, so when the road gets rough, and the waves soar above your heads, and the rug gets pulled out from under you as it will, you will have each other and the Lord to hold on to, and to love you through your valley.

I thank God for you dear…you are very precious to me. I would never let you go alone, but I will be with you by side always. I pray for good health always and pls know our friendship and our love means the world to me. The writer did a very great job on this story. I was kind of in tears while I was reading it, because I never want to see you cry, and if you cry I promise I will dry your tears gently, and embrace you tenderly. I love you so much.

Love happens, and true love is Gods blessings. Some of us in our Ego,lost true love. Not understanding it,or feel it.And sometimes we turn down true love.It depend how we think. Men are afraid to express, they might be turned down,or rejected, and women are thinking it is men job to express true love. And time passes down.Aurther Unknown good job done.

This is a beautiful story and touches my heart. Both of them must believe in Jesus and take their wedding vowels serious..something we dont find in the world today I am a widow and miss true love and sharing my life with that committment. Cherish each other if you have a companion and never take each other for granted. Tell them everyday that you love them and what they mean to you.

Wonderful story. Human love is shown at it’s height. Really that wife is very lucky to have such a devoted husband. There can be no two views about it! That affection and love cannot be denied. But … those of us who envy that lucky couple should know even if we don’t have anyone to care and shower their love upon us, there’s an invisible loving God who is mindful of our every step we take. This has been my experience though I don’t deserve God’s gracious care and concern. I would have been the most miserable if I hadn’t Jesus in my life. All honor and glory to Him and Him alone!

This brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of my beautiful marriage. We were like different sides of one coin. Shared our joys and made fun of our pains for 21 years which seemed like 21days. until that fateful thursday when we said bye to each other “catch u later’ and left for our different offices. Death snatched him from me before he got to the office, that was 8 years ago but i’m yet to get over my loss! My prayer is that Mark will continue to love Susan for that is where her strnghth and courage lie!
