This Autumn Time

Thoughts emerge in this mind
Causing me to pause and see
The wonders that await my attention
So I can focus on what’s around me.

Sounds and quiet are side by side
One is released and the other at will
Contemplating as if in a daze
But raging thoughts won’t be still.

Much to ponder this time and season
Beauty to behold, if I but take the time
Closing all distractions that linger there
Exploring what things that I might find.

Winds sometimes brisk, other times nil
Shorter days creep slowly in
Changes are seen in nature now
And I step out to embrace this friend.

Some view this season with much fear
Of what perhaps another season holds
The season that I put aside for now
Not ready to linger out into the cold.

I choose to relish this Autumn time
Will not waste on what might not be
For what lies in store before these eyes
Is the season God has gifted me.

A time for reflection stirs deep within
To ponder this journey that we each trod
For in this season I will find much peace
It will bid me to be blessed by God.

Falling leaves and cool, soothing rains;
Those rains will bath in such delight
Squirrels scampering here and fro
Gathering food for Winter’s plight.

Soft breezes yearn to touch my face
To engulf me in it’s refreshing touch
Rays of sunshine to warm the heart
I relinquish to its will as such.

The sunsets come much sooner now
As they do not linger as before
I marvel at their wonders still
Especially those over distant shores.

Reflecting on life as this time is sent
So grateful that my eyes can see
That there is beauty in each season
That our God of creation gives to me.

There are thoughts of many folks as well
Some of family and more, are of friends
I will embrace each that God has sent
Until this journey as reached its end.

There is peace in this quiet reflection
That clears the cluttered thoughts in mind
I will stand before another season
But for now I am graced by this Autumn time.
