Golden Silence

Sometimes silence is the sweetest song of all
When you go inside yourself, understand why you fall
What has happened to make you what you are
Count your blessings and wish upon a star
How to be better, not make the same mistakes again
Know who your demons are and how to hold onto a friend

How to do the right thing, and know love from lust
Hold onto a higher power, hold onto those you trust
Know when to bow your head and fall to your knees
When to stand tall and hold onto your beliefs
And sometimes let a dream go, to find that sweet release
And in that golden silence, God will grant you peace.

Ms. Kelley, I appreciate the sentiment of your poem. I relate to it so well. The many alone hours reflecting upon my personal hell.
To finally come to realize that it isn’t about what I haven’t got, rather all the blessings from our Father, where my mind must dwell. Indeed I am the luckiest man, for in knowing, seeing and in believing, God has a definite plan for me. In fact for us all, if we choose to see… life is not as hard as we make it out to be. Open your heart and see with your eyes, all of God’s Grace and his creation, the cost was his son’s life but for us, simply, it’s free.

    Karen,
This poem is perfect for a special person that I starting communicating with who never felt the way I did. I thought we were perfect for each other, but he had been hurt and couldn’t get over it. I think if he had opened his heart and let me try to make him happy, it would have worked. He was empty so I moved on. The words to this poem fit our friendship perfectly. Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away. GOD BLESS YOU,
    Terri

Yes, sometimes the silence is the sweetest song of everything…but sometimes is necessary… imposed by unpropitious circumstances…

Dear Karen, You are truly a “writer’s writer”. I would like your permission to have this beautiful poem read some day at my funeral in the most respectful way, and I thank God and you that you have allowed so many of “us” in need to read and absorb the thoughts. In addition, you have chosen the perfect musical accompaniment which allows one to experience the many unsaid thoughts which provide such comfort and solace And what a very special touch that a picture of the seeds of a Dandelion, my Dad’s favorite wildflower, is found at the top of your poem. It has been a very enjoyful experience, this visit with you, even if only on paper, and has provided me much sustenance. Thank my God, for He is good, His love is Everlasting.

Here and there a world: I sit on the threshold.

    Those who sit there remain mute with silence;
It’s enough to imitate this; hold your tongue, say no
    more. Rumi
