It’s in the Valleys I Grow
It’s in the Valleys I Grow
Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It’s then I have to remember
That it’s in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God’s love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it’s in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan’s loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I’m feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it’s in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it’s in the valleys I grow!
(This poem was written by Jane Eggleston who currently lives in Virginia. Her son Jeff states, “She is a wonderful person, loves Jesus and has been the best mother anyone could ever ask for.” What a fitting tribute to any mother.)

Such beautiful words in the poem, such beautiful comments from the above posters. Remind Lord that I’m never alone, that you are always with me in my time of sorrow, pain and suffering. I love you so much, I hope you know this by my actions. I’m trying to be a good person to everyone, but you know Lord I do get discouraged at times by people’s reactions. Please help me get pass this discouragement. After all look what you went through for us. I’m certain that you were discouraged Lord. I love you.

I know that the valleys can be overwhelming…remember you are not alone,
there are only one set of footprints,
our Savior is carrying you through and you will be comforted and given the strength to rise above it.
Yes, we have many lessons to learn.

What a beautiful poem. It certainly gives encouragement for our times of woe and helps us to enjoy the high times, as we walk along each day. GOD steps aside and gives us time to go to the valley, so we may appreciate all of the loveliness HE has for each of us.

Yes, it is in the valley we grow… Sometimes it is very hard to live through, but knowing that GOD is always with us and ever by our side… we must trust Him…
If everything was always “perfect” how would we know to praise our Lord and know of His blessings???
Please help us Lord when times are not so good…we will always need you, eternally. Thank you Lord…
Blessings… Elizabeth W. = Peace be with us all…

In the deepest Valley I ever walked was the death of an adult child.
However in the mist of more pain than ever thought of, I knew that There stood God!

We are happy on the mountain tops and under stress from trials and tribulations in the valleys. It is in those valleys that the Lord is guiding us, giving us strength and testing our faith. It is then that we grow as Christians!
