These men are absolutely angelic in the way they present their music & you can almost feel their hearts beating while singing. I in my youth was a Singer & loved singing this song too. As a singer I feel the music when they perform . Their voices melt together & with this beautiful scenery it is a masterpiece. It truly makes me want to start singing again ,although I’m a 71 yr.old now my health doesn’t allow me the pleasure of this any longer but my heart wants to. I too have only one sibling left but have a great family of my own. Son, hubby & grandkids. Thank you so much allowing us to hear your voices & enjoy this session. Keep up the good work & please try to stay together.

I listen to “How Great Thou Art” every morning. As I listen to the words and watch these five, amazing men sing this most heavenly song, it provides the strength I need. Truly, “Home Free” group brings comfort listening and watching how sincerely they sing my all-time favorite Gospel song. Sophisticated arrangement, this requires skilled singers to do they harmonization, and they are, that! What better backdrop for this hymn than this beautiful setting. I’m thinking the words were written by George Beverly Shae, do anyone know if this is right? This was sung at a funeral I attended on Monday, so I came home and played it again, afterwards. It never gets old. I love to hear it sung under a vaulted ceiling with great instrumental accompaniment, and people feeling free to lift their voices–and hearts. Simple song, and the message never gets old.

“How Great Thou Art” is one of my favorite Gospel songs; Home Free musical group’s rendition is the best ever! Noticed that three singers are in Lee Greenwood’s “GOD BLESS THE USA!” video. Love that one; play it every day just as I play, “How Great Thou Art” every day. We are clinging to our Faith during these troubled + concerning times. We are fighting to keep our America free; songs such as these are inspiring + uplifting.

For the bass lead to start this rendition was inspirational and his voice is magnificent. I loved it all. I, like many other commenters attend a bible church who uses original or new age music. We have a new minister and I love his sermons. He picks hymns with words that coordinate with his theme, but oh how I miss the old hymns with beautiful four part harmony. As a long time church goer I notice ministers who sing along with the hymns pick different music than ones who pick hymns for the words only, not how they combine with the full harmony of music. I guess I will get my music outside of church (and, by the way, I sing in the choir).

I go to my Church quite often. It is a Congregational church. As as youngster with 9 other siblings we often went to country churches.
I really miss what i consider traditional hymns from my childhood. This site was sent to me from a friend.

I remember first hearing this song when my parents listened to Billy Graham during my childhood and Cliff Barrows sang it on the program. One of the greatest songs ever! This a capella rendition is gorgeous! Thanks to the talented men who recorded it and for their great gift to the world!

I chose this to be played at my Dad’s funeral three years ago during the special music. There was such a stillness and reverence while listening to the version of this beautiful hymn that brought many AMENS at the ending of the song. Such a wonderful way to reflect on a Godly man who loved The LORD and served him well in his earthly life. Thank you so much for this inspiring song. It touched many lives that day.

Received this from a friend a number of years ago and in moving last year, my whole Favorite list never got connected to the new location and computer. When tried to search and reconnect this was one I never found….until another friend sent a copy out this week….. What a perfect time to arrive and fill the apartment with these beautiful, heart filling sounds. Would I have appreciated it as much prior to the shut down from COVID-19?…… I don’t think so.

My favorite song of all the hymns that I have sung all my life. I play this at least once a day. I have found out that no matter what these young men sing, it is clean and their voices are always pure. They have truly made a name for themselves.

This is the only group I can hear because of the great bass and harmony. For more than 70 years music was lost to me. My wife and I have played this over and over ever since I received it from a very dear friend back in the USA. The young man with the ‘beard’ reminds me very much of my oldest grandson in looks… sorry to say he cannot sing like this young man! I just wrote a poem to be read at my funeral. No, I don’t have any idea of any pending gloom or doom, but one never knows. I have always loved this song, and it has touched my heart even when I didn’t follow His will for my life. Hearing this group sing this powerful and wonderful song has led me to have this song played or sang at the closing of my Services. I have never been afraid to die, but now I know I will merely step into a much better place just because Oh Mighty God How Great Thou Art!

My cousin sent me this wonderful rendition of How Great Thou art. I emailed it to all my friends! I enjoyed it so very much! It’s always an inspiration, and just thrills you when you’re feeling down!
I had a fall recently and can’t move my left hand & fingers. I can’t do much and rely on my wife & son to give me a hand with so many things I used to do, but can’t anymore! And this morning I desperately needed a shot of inspiration from Home Free- & yes it gave me the urge to want to go on! Wonderful job. Thank you so much. My mother who will turn 103 in October took the opportunity on a cruise ship a few years ago on a passenger talent night to tell the story how the song was written and to sing the song “How Great Thou Art” accompanied by the ship orchestra. The song means a great deal to me.

It is beautiful beyond words. It lifts you up to a point that you are not only hearing their beautiful God given voices but you feel like you are right there with them as the mountains and meadows surround you.I felt like I was meditating and if you allow it to, it leaves you in that state long after it ends.What a beautiful way to start a meditation. Very fine, tight vocal ensemble, right on pitch and time all the time. They blend well, a good lead, the bass adds an edge, the tenors brilliance helps close out the last few bars. Reminds me of a Bobbie McFerrin voicing/arrangement. Would like to hear more.

Wonderful singing BUT….why did the quintet omit verse three, surely not because it may prove offensive to some hearers? It reads, “But when I think that God, His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in. That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.” All the beauty of song and nature is of no avail apart from Christ Jesus. The Gospel writer quotes Jesus as saying, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” [John 14:6] Without the third verse of this great hymn, the lyrics lack a critical and essential ingredient, God’s answer to man’s biggest problem.

Second response. Listened again and enjoyed it immensely. However, earlier I hadn’t taken note of the group not singing the third verse which are the most important words of the song reading “When I think of God, His son not sparing, Sent Him die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin”

Amazing!! The setting of this performance in a beautiful mountainous location just adds to the greatness of God’s creation and how truly great He and His great love for us in sending His Son as to atone for our sins.

Wonderful rendition of a lovely late 19th century Swedish hymn by Carl Gustaf Boberg. Boberg, part of the Swedish Covenant Church tradition, wrote hymn in 1885. It was first translated to German, from there to Russian and set to a Russian melody, then on to English.

Not being much of a country music lover and on the verge of Atheism I confess this hit my music button as hard as when I heard “Take 6” (a jazz vocal group acapella also) for the first time. Then I listened the 2 time and heard the words. For the first time in my life I actually felt something stir inside me. Great experience.

Really well done and beautiful background to boot. One of my favorite hymns, but I never hear anyone or any group sing the entire song. As I was immersed in listening your beautiful voices, I heard a single little voice singing on the side. My sweet mother, who suffers from severe Alzheimer’s disease, was singing along with you. Thank you so many for this video. It meant a lot to me. I live in CO where we have 54 14,000 ft mountains. I have climbed just a very few of them. I have looked “Down from lofty mountain grandeur,” and have said, “My God, how great thou art.” And, “It is well with my soul,” something I have never stopped thanking God for.
I have advanced Cancwr and have about 4 mos left. Jesus will soon come to take me home and I feel nothing but joy at the prospect.

What a truly beautiful setting and the song and your voices could not have matched any better. This song was sung an my father’s and my husband’s funeral. One of my very favorite songs. I know this would have been his favorite rendition as he loved loved quartet singing and to have five harmonies, what a blessing and a gift all of you have!
