Coat of Many Colors – Dolly Parton
Coat of Many Colors is the eighth solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton. It was released on October 4, 1971, by RCA Victor.[1] The album was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1972 CMA Awards. It also appeared on Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Albums of All Time and at No. 301 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Parton has cited the title track on numerous occasions as her personal favorite of all the songs she has written. What did you think? This one took me down memory lane, since my mama sewed clothes for us some 80 years ago. I agree w / the above mentioned Kathryn in that ,that song has “ wealth combined w/ wisdom” . Love coupled w/ contentment are some of the prerequisites in life to sustain poverty.

This song reminds me of the clothes my mom made and the lessons she gave me in sewing. Then with my children I was able to sew clothing some my mother had sewn for my children.

I love this song! It’s got a wealth of not only love but also wisdom contained in every word. Those two bits make it easy to relate to every part of that song. That and the fact that dolly sings like an angel. Talented singer and writer!
