Dying Man Finds New Life in Abandoned Church
Follow the captivating story of a man whose life took an unexpected turn in this emotional journey of discovery. In this video, reporter Boyd Huppert takes us on a remarkable adventure as a seemingly ordinary man stumbles upon something that would change his life forever. Deep in the heart of a Minnesota bean field, a hidden secret awaits.
Throughout the ups and downs of life, we often find ourselves facing unforeseen challenges. For Greg Thomas, the battle against cancer has been a three-year-long nightmare that seemed never-ending. But everything changed when he encountered an abandoned church, built in 1868 by Czech settlers, standing in disrepair.
Among the peeling paint and crumbling walls, Greg sought solace and began to pray. Little did he know that a chance encounter with a stranger would lead him on a path of restoration and redemption. Don, the neighbor who had a connection to the church, recognized Greg’s passion and sent him on a mission to revive the historic building.
Undeterred by the magnitude of the task at hand, Greg took on the challenge. Despite his own health struggles and ongoing cancer treatments, including being on a feeding tube for three years, Greg devoted himself to saving the church. Inside, he discovered an intact interior from the 1860s, but the roof was in desperate need of repair, and the floors were rotted.
Greg’s dedication to restoring the church became a beacon of hope for the community. Blanche Zellmer, who has family ties to the church, expressed the overwhelming emotions felt by many: the tears shed during the restoration process and the belief that this endeavor goes beyond mere construction—it touches the heart and soul.
Witness the transformative power of determination and the resilience of the human spirit as Greg Thomas embarks on a mission to breathe new life into this forgotten gem. Discover how the restoration of an old church becomes a symbol of faith, perseverance, and the unbreakable bond of community.

A moving an Interesting story. All buildings built before 1978 have lead paint, a known carcinogen. The church must of had layers of lead and he wasn’t using a mask. Is it possible an intake of lead after you have cancer could put it in remission?

God saves in more ways than one. Greg knocked and God opened the door. Greg opened his heart and God came in. When one talks miracles, you’re talking about God, the Master of the Universe, the giver of life!!!
