“God and Country Music” George Strait with Special Guest, grandson Harvey Strait
Filmed during the Houston Rodeo Show on March 17, 2019. What a great moment it was to see little Harvey join his grandpa up on stage to sing this awesome song. Thanks to George, Harvey and The Ace in the Hole Band.
“God and Country Music” is a song by country music legend George Strait, which was released in 2019. The song is included on his album “Honky Tonk Time Machine,” which features 13 tracks and was his 30th studio album at the time of its release.
“God and Country Music” is a heartfelt tribute to the things that Strait holds dear in his life, namely his faith and his love of country music. The song features a guest appearance by Strait’s grandson, Harvey Strait, who joins his grandfather on vocals.
The song’s lyrics speak to the power of music and its ability to bring people together, as well as the role that faith plays in Strait’s life. The chorus goes, “God and country music, are like whiskey and a prayer / Like Johnny Cash’s arm around Billy Graham’s chair / The way Willie sings a hallelujah song / It’s a beautiful thing / The sound of the saints and angels singing along.”
Overall, “God and Country Music” is a heartfelt and uplifting song that speaks to Strait’s love of his faith, his family, and his country. With its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics, it’s a standout track on an album that’s full of classic Strait-style country music.

Very sad! Anything to do with honky-tonks is “sad” it is a death chamber. No matter how you look at it. It will ruin you.
