Happy Together – The Turtles
“Happy Together” is a 1967 song from The Turtles’ album of the same name. Released in February 1967, the song knocked The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” out of the number one slot for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the group’s only chart-topper. Absolutely LOVE the Turtles, what a Great sound they had. I also bought their album and still have it, but unfortunately, not a record player to play it on. I do have them in my Pandora music and listen to it very often. Isn’t it wonderful to be able to listen to the real words of a song, something you don’t hear very often these days? I’m so Glad to have been born in that era, the music was so wonderful.

I’ve always loved this “Happy Song”. I’m so thankful I grew up during this generation when everyone could turn up the volume and we could all sing along. And we all knew the words! Loved “The Turtles”. Brings back such happier days!

Remember listening to all the music of 50’s to 70’s on the radio as it was easier to hear and learn the words so that you sing them. Now the radio is nothing like it was then, well really nothing is like that anymore and it’s rather sad.

I had this on a 45lp and I played it over and over till I knew it by heart and I think I wore the record out. How I miss this kind of music . Glad to have been born in the 50’s

I too enjoy the songs from the 50’s and 60’s. 1967 was the year I moved to California.

I remember lot of songs from listening to the radio. We did not have televisions back in that time. I loved listening to so many old songs. If we did not have any other things that needed done, we ran to turn on the radio. Songs were not the only entertainment on radio back then. I believe it was on every Saturday night. We would all sit around the radio and listen to the old westerns. Gunsmoke was my favorite. How Guns Will Travel, The Lone Ranger, Wagon Train, The Real McCoy’s, and many, many, more. Wagon Train was also one of my favorites. I suppose we were too young to listen to some of them, but we were supervised by our parents. We knew The Ten Commandments and especially, Thy Shalt not Kill. One very good thing about old westerns, no vulgar language, like the movies of today and time. Those horrible vulgar words are not necessary to use to make good movies. I watch the Western channel which shows only the old westerns.
