Hello Again – Neil Diamond
“Hello Again” is a song by American singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, released in 1980 as a single from his album “The Jazz Singer” which served as the soundtrack to the movie of the same name.
One interesting fact about the song is that the iconic guitar riff that opens the track was actually played by legendary guitarist, session musician, and producer, Larry Carlton. Carlton recorded the riff in one take while he was warming up in the studio, and Diamond loved it so much that he decided to use it as the intro to the song.
Another interesting fact is that “Hello Again” was not initially intended to be a love song. Diamond wrote the song as a tribute to the experience of being on the road and reconnecting with his fans after a long absence. However, he later decided to change the lyrics to make the song more universal and relatable to anyone who has ever had to say goodbye to someone they love and then reconnect with them later.
“Hello Again” became a massive hit for Diamond, reaching No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It remains one of his most popular and beloved songs.

I am a long time admirer of Neil Diamond and his music. His voice is so enchanting in every song, especially as he sings “Sweet Caroline” as that is my name.
