Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton – Island In The Stream (2005)
“Islands in the Stream” is a song originally written by the Bee Gees and recorded by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton in 1983. The song became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and becoming one of the best-selling duets of all time.
In 2005, Rogers and Parton reunited to perform the song for a live concert special called “Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years.” The concert was a tribute to Rogers’ career, and Parton was one of the special guests who performed with him.
Their performance of “Islands in the Stream” was a highlight of the concert, and it was also released as a single. The new version of the song was a hit, reaching the top 40 on the Billboard country chart and earning a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
The chemistry between Rogers and Parton was evident in their performance, and their longtime friendship added to the charm of the duet. They had previously collaborated on several other songs, including “Love is Strange” and “Real Love,” and their partnership remains one of the most beloved in country music history.
Sadly, Rogers passed away in March 2020, but his and Parton’s performances of “Islands in the Stream” and their other collaborations continue to be cherished by fans of country music.

I love ALL of Kenny Rogers ‘s songs ,but this one “ Island in the stream” is marked “PRIVATE” and am somewhat disappointed, however all his songs tell a sad / happy story ,which some or all of us can relate to as life’s experiences and trust me ,I’ve lived 4 scores and think am qualified to make this comment.
