Mama Tried – Merle Haggard
In honor of country music legend Merle Haggard who passed on Wednesday, April 6th. Merle emerged from prison to become the poetic voice of the working man. He died on his 79th birthday. Here is one of his more popular song:
“Mama Tried” is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Merle Haggard. It was released in July 1968 as the first single and title track from the album Mama Tried. The song became one of the cornerstone songs of his career. It won the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1999, and was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry due to its “cultural, historic, or artistic significance” on March 23, 2016, just 14 days before Haggard’s death.

, I think yo782u;ll look fantastic with lighter or brighter colors. I like the texture and design on the knit. It’s one of those statement sweaters that looks best on its own without being hidden under an over-sized coat.

Beautiful song, Sad that another wonderful country western singer is no longer with us. Hard to replace any of them as they all had songs about our beautiful country and way of life then.

I loved most of Merle Haggard’s songs, they are all so great that I can’t really say that I have a favorite. I loved his duets with Bonnie Owens !
