I live in one of the FIVE CITIES in the Central Coast in California; the Monarchs migrate to Pismo Beach one of the five cities once a year and we always have butterflies flittering g around our plants in our backyards.
For years I walked those paths with my dogs; when my grandchildren were small/young they spent their time away from school with us and we explored all of the beaches and forests in the area, sad collected many nice shells, rocks and driftwood.
we NEVER missed the butterfly sanctuary when the Monarchs were in occupancy.

I have a lengthy CD I purchased from Maryland Public TV – and it is so totally amazing. No words to describe this beautiful migration. How do they do it?? Mystery to me.

I always pictured Mexico as totally dry like a desert. It’s amazing how the butterflies find their way there every single year. I hope the Mexican government leaves that forest as it is so the Monarchs can continue to go there.
