My Way – Elvis Presley (Live)
Elvis Presley “My Way” from Aloha From Hawaii, Live in Honolulu, 1973.
Few songs are as bold, defiant, and unforgettable as “My Way” – Elvis Presley. Though closely associated with him today, Elvis recorded his powerful version in June 1977, just weeks before his passing. His rendition was released posthumously in October 1977 as part of the album Elvis in Concert, capturing performances from his final tour.
Originally adapted from the French song “Comme d’habitude,” “My Way” became a signature anthem of independence and reflection. Elvis delivered it with raw emotion during his final concerts, turning the song into something deeply personal – a farewell that no one realized at the time would feel so literal.
As a single, Elvis’s live version reached No. 22 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart in 1978. It also earned Gold certification in the United Kingdom, proving that his voice and presence still commanded global attention even after his death.
There is something haunting and beautiful about hearing Elvis declare, “I did it my way.” In hindsight, it feels less like a cover and more like a closing statement from the King of Rock and Roll – a reminder that he lived boldly, performed passionately, and left the stage exactly as he chose.
More than just a song, “My Way” stands as a timeless tribute to individuality, resilience, and a life lived without apology.
