Surrender – Elvis Presley

“Surrender” is a song recorded by the legendary American singer Elvis Presley in 1961. It was written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, who also wrote many of Presley’s other hits such as “Little Sister” and “Viva Las Vegas”.

The song was recorded in both English and Italian versions, with the latter titled “Torna a Surriento” (“Come Back to Sorrento”). The lyrics of the song describe the speaker’s desire to surrender himself to the love of his life, proclaiming “All my thoughts dear, you must know it / All my life, I’ve waited for your touch / I’m a fool when lights are low, dear / But you tempt me, and I love it so.”

Upon its release, “Surrender” quickly climbed the charts and became one of Presley‘s most successful singles, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song’s popularity was due in part to its catchy melody and upbeat rhythm, which showcased Presley’s versatile vocal range and charisma as a performer.
