Who’ll Stop The Rain – Creedence Clearwater Revival
1970 song “Who’ll Stop The Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival with a montage of the Vietnam War.
“Who’ll Stop the Rain” is a song by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), written by the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, John Fogerty. It was released in 1970 as a single from their album “Cosmo’s Factory.”
The song’s lyrics are often interpreted as a reflection of the tumultuous social and political climate of the late 1960s and early 1970s, particularly the Vietnam War era. Fogerty’s poignant lyrics evoke a sense of disillusionment and uncertainty, with references to rain as a metaphor for troubles and hardships. The repeated question, “Who’ll stop the rain?” suggests a longing for someone or something to bring an end to the turmoil and restore peace.
“Who’ll Stop the Rain” became one of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s most enduring and beloved songs, earning critical acclaim and enduring popularity over the years. It has been covered by various artists and featured in numerous films, television shows, and commercials, solidifying its status as a classic rock staple.

One of my favorites by this group! And no, these men who fought and died were not given the recognition they deserved when they returned. Shame on this country for not stepping up. They deserved so much more than they got!

I lost a great man in Viet Nam
But gained a son
They had it bad and many were
not honored when they returned

I don’t think I ever connected this to the Viet Nam war. I truly enjoyed how this opened my eyes. Thank You.
