Why We Should Rethink Aging
Successful aging can be the norm, says UCLA psychology professor Alan Castel in his book, “Better with Age: The Psychology of Successful Aging.”
“There are a lot of myths about aging, and people often have negative stereotypes of what it means to get old,” Castel said. “I have combined the lessons the psychology of aging teaches us with insights from some of the people who have succeeded in aging well.”

I will be 90 years old in November. I have a great outlook on life. My wife died on September 1, 2017, but I have a lot to live for…I had 4 daughters (1 died last year of cancer) but the 3 watches over me. I have 10 grandkid and 8 great-grandkids, and one on the way. I walk the mall every day and talk to everyone. I believe if you keep active and not let yourself get low you will live a long time. I have my days when I am very sad because I lost two that But I don’t allow this to pull me down. I love my family very much. My outlook on life is to get out of the house and talk to people.
