This is a very good documentary of those beautiful years and time that I grew up in. I wish to relive it again because they were fun times. My memories from watching this video is “feeling all good inside” which is such a good thing.
That is really terrific, because that certainly was the way things went back in those days. . I have two daughters my oldest born in 1947 and my youngest 1953. They both are still perking along each day and so is their 93 years of age mother, which is me. My husband and I certainly have loving memories of watching them grow up. May GODs Angels continue to watch over all of you forever, is my prayer.
Those were the good no great ole days when we got to use our imaginations. If you wanted money and you were only 12 you WORKED for it by shining shoes on main street or peddling papers. I”ll be the first to admit that I got into my fair amount of trouble, but boy oh boy I paid for it and I am not ashamed to say it was painful. One thing for sure,, I did not repeat that mistake. Not like the millennials nowadays that get coddled . Yes, one thing for sure “Times have Changed “. This has actually happened to me……You give a couple of kids a job paying $10.00 Cash an hour to move some stuff from one place to a dumpster. Keep them busy for five out of eight hours a day, they work for a week go on vacation for two weeks and then I expected them to come back to work on that Monday @ 9:00 a.m.. No phone call from either brother so I found their cell number and called them. Keep in mind now that I paid them cash at the end of every day they worked. This is the exact excuse I received. “We can’t work for you no more. The work it’s too hard.” Keep in mind these were educated high school boys. The most each boy had to lift was 15-20#’s. Anything over that and they worked together. I don’t know what is going on with these millennials’ or the folks who are supposed to be teaching them ethics. But it definitely is not like it was in the 1950’s, 60’s or 70’s.
