Elvis Presley – Are You Lonesome Tonight
In April 1960, after Elvis Presley’s two-year service in the United States Army, he recorded the song at the suggestion of manager Colonel Tom Parker; “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” was Parker’s wife, Marie Mott’s, favorite song. Its release was delayed by RCA Records executives, who thought the song did not fit Presley’s new (and publicized) style. When “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” was released in November 1960 it was an immediate success in the U.S., topping Billboard’s Pop Singles chart and reaching number three on the R&B chart. A month after the song’s release, it topped the UK Singles Chart. Presley’s version was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1961 and upgraded to double platinum in 1992. What did you think? What a great performer he was. Will there ever be another Elvis? This song especially shows the depth and skill of one of the greatest singers ever.

I liked Elvis’s music back then and I still like to hear it and now this song “Are You Lonesome Tonight” is more fitting
because my wonderful husband has been deceased for 7 years after 52 years of marriage so I am lonesome for him every day and night but know that I will see him again when we are together in our Heavenly Home.

You raise an interesting point, hartes are, IN FACT, going to hate, by definition. I mean, bus drivers are going to drive a bus and tennis players are going to play tennis and so on. So, thank you for pointing that out. Astute. As for The Fish, he is a case study in why surfers should just surf, not talk (or attempt comedy, music, etc.). Yes, he can surf well, but he’s tone-deaf, taste-challenged and funny like a late-stage cancer.
