Painting: Asher Durand, Sunday Morning, 1860
He hung the stars in the back of the night
then let their twinkle shine through.
He gathered the wind in the palm of His hand
to quiet the storm as it blew.
He set the sun to burn hot on the earth
and then taught the clouds how to cry.
With thunder and lighting and rain when it’s needed
to soak the ground when it’s dry.
He raises the flowers to bloom in the spring
and puts them to bed in the fall.
Their beauty recorded for next year’s return
just waiting for His beckoning call.
The mountains and rivers are works of His hand
the desert as well as the sea.
Then where it was needed He added a rock
and for shade He planted a tree.
The heavens He painted with the sweep of His hand
adding color as He brushed through the sky.
His angels were singing as God formed the world
for the children He loves, you and I.

True…God is a very powerful teacher indeed.
He gives us what we don’t want…
But what we need…
He is very interesting and smart…
He saw through me from the very start…
A victim I would continue to be…
Until he broke me down and open…
And showed me that the power was really within ME…

Each day Lord when I awake, you always seem to present me with challenging situations. When I read poetry submitted here with beautiful, peaceful pictures, its as though you’re waiting for me to take a breath and recognize all that you have given me. Lord, you have given me so much, a roof over my head, food on my table, but I truly ask of you to give me the health that I so desperately need. You see Lord, that i consider to be the richest of all materialistic things. Without my health, I’m poor. And I have suffered, but you have also (not that I’m comparing myself to your sufferings) but Lord, I’m not certain if you’re testing my faith or what? Can I just have one day without being ill? Or is that day going to be when I’m in your arms? I have no right to question you, but Lord, I’m so worn out from being constantly sick and not being able to go out and enjoy seeing more of what you have created in the world. It’s up to you Lord, maybe these poems and pictures are your way of giving me some sort of hope or answer. I love you Lord, and always will.

oh! when i look at the wonderful world and its form, it makes me to roll down tears from my eyes because the devil has blinded the minds of men and there are not able to worship him for all this wonders, just look at the trees, the seas and all that are found in it. oh my soul, praise the name of the Lord God Almighty and forget not what he has done for mankind. so encouraging

JOHN: I also noticed that on the road to the church upon the hill, about half way there, is a wooden cross
to the left of the road… did anyone notice it ??? What a peaceful scene this is… even the lambs in
the lower corner seem content… Just imagine sitting on the ledge under the trees in the left of the
picture and thanking GOD for His beautiful world… Thank you glorious GOD…
Blessings… Elizabeth W.

There is so much to appreciate in the natural world that surrounds us. I was awed by the cloud formations, the beauty of the trees, the lovely flowers that grew wild, the changing weather and seasons, the night sky, the moon and the stars, the wild creatures that visited our yard both day and night when I was a child. As I behold the beauty of nature today, it still works its magic. I’ve always appreciated the simple things in life.

DID YOU NOTICE THE MOVING CLOUDS, SWAYING OF TREE LIMBS, MOVING OF THE WATER, IT WAS HARVEST TIME (HOW DO I KNOW?) THE CORN IS “SHOCKED”(STACKED) IN THE FIELD. MANY “THINGS” GOD DOES WE TAKE NO NOTICE OF, WHY? OUR “EYES”, “HEART” AND “MIND” NEED TO BE “FINE-TUNED” TO WHAT GREAT THINGS HE HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE THAT LOVE HIM….JOHN 1:11-12

GOD plants beauty in unexpected places, be observant and you will be amazed at what you see…
One day walking on an asphalt sidewalk, I looked down and saw the most beautiful dandelion blossoming
between the cracks of the sidewalk… What a blessing to see the hopeful flower blossoming… I smiled and
said, How beautiful you are dandelion… There is really beauty everywhere… Thank you wonderful GOD…
