I had never heard the song until my family was looking for music for my Father’s funeral and someone suggested this song. Now it brings back wonderful memories of my dad but also brings a tear to my eyes.

This brings back memories listening to good old Jim Reeves..as one of my dear Mammy in law’ s favourite singers bless her she’s long gone now..I can see her now putting the records on the gramophone/record player singing along to him..they don’t make/have folks/people like her much anymore or Jim Reeves.. she was quite a character.. I miss her but this brought her back for awhile..in my mind’s eye she always wore a pinny/pinafore also never had it off..and was always..working away cooking cleaning and always baking/making something nice..and it take me back to my childhood playing out in the street with all the other kids just outside our home/house until it got dark night time.. and I’d hear a voice of my foster mother shouting come on in it’s your time for bed or bedtime,,and then we’d go in get washed jammies on then so to bed..

I WELL REMEMBER THIS AGE OLD SONG BEING PLAYED. I FOR ONE LIKED JIM REEVES AND MOST OF THE MUSIC HE RECORDED DURING HIS CAREER WERE FAVORITES OF MINE BUT NONE SO MUCH AS SUPPERTIME AS IT HAD SO MUCH MEANING TO OUR FAMILY. IT MEAN’T EXACTLY THAT—SUPPERTIME. MY TWO CHILDREN WHO WERE BELOW THE AGE OF 11 YRS, ONCE THEY ARRIVED HOME FROM SCHOOL AND CHANGED THEIR SCHOOL CLOTHING WERE ALLOWED TO PLAY OUTSIDE UNTIL THEY WERE CALLED IN TO EAT THE MAIN MEAL OF THE DAY AND THIS TIME WAS ALWAYS OBSERVED AT EXACTLY THE TIME THAT THE THEME SONG BEING PLAYED ON THE RADIO SHOW WAS SUPPERTIME AND MOST CLOSE NEIGHBORS AROUND US KNEW I WAS CALLING MY YOUNG ONES FOR { suppertime }. EVERY TIME I HEAR
THAT PLAYED TODAY I HAVE THE STRONG FEELING I SHOULD BE CALLING MY FAMILY IN FOR SUPPER.
WHAT LOVELY MEMORIES IT BRINGS BACK TO ME

I enjoy Jim Reeves singing, and I remember this song very well. I graduated from High School, in 1957, My mother would always have a country station on the Radio, and we would all sit around it, (like we had to watch it !}) My Mom used to call in and request songs now and then, and we would all listen to hear her name announced. She had to write a letter to the station because we didn’t have a phone. I have quite a few of Jim Reeves records (78s, 331/3, and 45s, along with dvds) Thank you for having “come home for suppertime” on Net Hugs.

It was a beautiful song by Jim Reeves and it reminds me of my home and my Mom and Dad. My Mom always cooking and baking, and the smells of that delicious cooking and the warm welcome when I got home from school.
Cozy & warm and nice to be with my family. I wish I could go back to those days. I miss those Good Old Days. I miss my Mom and Dad so much. I have such sweet memories.

Some of the pictures remind me of years gone by. Wonderful years of the innocence childrenhood. Beautiful happy years.
