Take Hold of Every Moment
[slideshow id=41]
A friend of mine opened his wife’s underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:
“This, – he said – isn’t any ordinary package.” He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.
“She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on. Was saving it for a special occasion.
Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:
“Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion”.
I still think those words changed my life. Now I read more and clean less. I sit on the porch without worrying about anything. I spend more time with my family, and less at work. I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day. I’ll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it. I don’t save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to. The words “Someday…” and “One Day…” are fading away from my dictionary. If it’s worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now.
I don’t know what my friend’s wife would have done if she knew she wouldn’t be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I’d like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favourite food. It’s these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come. I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters… letters that i wanted to write “One of this days”. I would regret and feel sad, because I didn’t say to my brothers and sons, not times enough at least, how much I love them.
Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives. And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day. Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

Friendship is a bonding by both people, so reach out and feel that great happiness that is waiting for you. Don’t put off today what you know should be taken care of, because tomorrow really never comes along.

Some people exist. I choose to live. Because of that I have done more with my life in the last six years that most have in a lifetime. We aren’t promised one more day. Each day is both a blessing and a gift from our heavenly father. help someone less fortunate. It will make you feel good! I am proud to be 66 and still going strong!

It is better to have shared a loved one in life and know that that Loving soul is in heaven to see again when my time comes. Being loved is good, when the lose comes to us we think the world is falling apart. It is only the Love Of Jesus Christ
that i draw my strenth, to live a life for his work with Love to share in this world.

Danny: Just curious, when you type in “Mwah” in your emails, does that mean
a short “kiss?” I think it is funny and sweet. (You don’t have to answer me, but I
was just wondering…)
If you don’t ask, you will never know about life.
When a little child, people were amazed at the questions I asked. How else would I
find out about this wonderful life we have ??? Oh well…

Thinking of the beautiful items never used…could it be that these people lived during the “depression” and held on to them because of the fear of going through the “depression” again ??? Or maybe when alone, they opened their drawer and looked at them and admired them and dreamed a little bit ??? I know lots of people like this and wondered why… I bet all of you do the same thing…we are after all, human.

I say I love you everytime I see my family…My mother and father passed away when I wasn’t with them…but I know that when their time came to go with the Lord, they knew that I loved them…and I know that they loved me.
Do the best you can…I think that those you love know it and I know that you know that they love you too. I never met my infant brother, but I say I love you to him and I know that he loves me also.

Other than some exalted souls nobody knows when we ve to leave this body.So as far as possible do less harm to the environment, and the fellow creations;that include humans, animals and the nature itself. hunger is the driving force.A new born child will not cry if God did not give him that force, but be careful what u eat.Let it not be meat coz meat means murder.Meat is the haven of many viruses that harms this physical body. The created illness by meateating brings harm to the mental body(astral body)Th blood debt harms the causal body.So be vegan. Feel like a saint .Live a noble life.Feel no fear of death. It is a blessing in disguise.

Every day is a special occasion and we should make the best of it.
Whatever good we can do today, we must do it and make someone happy
so that we will not have any regrets. The present is very important that is why the meaning of present is also a gift.
A very heart-warming verse.

That was sad, but true.
I had a mother – in – law like that…. had a drawers full of lovely un worn things…. !!! We can always learn….. it’s nice to have things we cherish, but enjoy them too while we can.
They may be appreciated by our kids – or they may end up in the charity shop, rubbish bin or sold.

This story was very touching to me. My beloved husband went to be with the Lord 10 months ago. As he was nearing the end of his journey ALL the special people in his life surrounded him and make his time very special. This story inspired me to send this to these special people. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.

In 2002 I started a journal on my computer (you have one.) It is like a diary, every day an entry. I put down the good and the not so good, not blaming or not being critical of anyone.
It is so much fun…after I am gone, the children and spouse will enjoy reading it and it will bring back fond memories. Try it…I think you will enjoy it… Be good to yourself.

totally agree … enjoy each day like it is the last.. what you enjoy varies individual to individual.. ……I feel I am a more blessed person.. than one in Pakistan, Afgansitan and Kenya ….
Western world may feel more liberated than me in their search for meaning of life…
Its all how you be a happy person in your own blessed world respecting the limits..
Nice story.. Very inspiring true
